Vulpes Vulpes Mask by OakMyth Vulpes Vulpes Mask by OakMyth
A red fox ;)

Available for purchase here: [link]

I had so much fun working with this one. Eve and I are huge fox fans, and after buying a few fox tails from *lupagreenwolf, we decided it was time to make a fox mask!

I have a few more shots of this guy that need some touching up, so hopefully I'll be able to add some angle shots soon :meow:

Next in line: Silver fox, Arctic fox, Kit fox ♥ ♥ ♥

Made from 8 oz vegetable tanned cow hide leather, liquitex acrylic paint, blood, sweat, and tears. hehe ;)

I'm so jealous of you, it looks so great! I've always envied all you leather workers out there :)

True, I guess it comes from reading too much of Homer's epics(The Odyssey is my personal favorite) and watching Highlander.

May I ask when these masks may be back in stock?

Hard to say :( They sell out so very quickly! We have one listed as "Made-to-order" so you can purchase it, but it'll take about 3-5 weeks to complete (we usually have a very big list of custom orders). [link]

Purchased it and am currently waiting. I really like this mask. Its a great balance between simple and elaborate.

Aye m'lady, that would be the one.(me and my bad habit of acting like someone right out of the middle ages/Renaissance).

i wish it could be done without something that was taken with the life of an animal.. though excellent outcome, really.

Ah thank you anyway. I suppose it's all in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I feel that I am doing the animal a great honor and preserving its beauty by creating artwork from its remains (the leather would have otherwise been tossed in a landfill and turned to trash).

How do you shape the leather into a mask? Is it stretched over a form or cut and sewn?

Tooling leather (as opposed to garment leather) can be shaped when it gets wet :D So we get the mask wet, shape it over a manequin head with a very generic average face structure (it's mostly just to make sure the eyes and nose are aligned correctly), and then dry it with a blow dryer! :D
